Meet Bridgit Hawkins, Chief Sustainability Officer at CropX and former founder and CEO of Regen - both farm management technology businesses. Bridgit is currently mentoring PowerUp Kickstart finalists Frey and Pam Livingston - founders of Tokaora Diagnostics.
What is your area of expertise?
Business development, farm systems and agronomy.
Tell us about the business you’ve been mentoring through the PowerUp programme?
Tokaora Diagnostics has been founded by Frey and Pam Livingston, a smart and inspiring mother and son partnership. Frey has developed a quick test for facial eczema in animals which could revolutionize how we manage this serious but largely invisible disease.
What excites you about this business?
The potential for impact is enormous, the founders are true problem solvers and most importantly they have a true passion for what they are doing.
How have you been able to improve their business?
I've been working with Pam and Frey to work through all the other questions that need to be addressed to build a successful business once the technology is sorted (which they have well in hand).
What do you enjoy most about being a business mentor?
Realising that all the experience I have gained - which includes lots of mistakes - can help others in their journey.
What or who inspires you?
Every day is day I can be part of making a difference - it's in my hands.
What’s the best advice you’ve been given?
Persistence is vital (para-phrased from my father).
What three things can’t you live without?
Laughing, family and friends, and a challenge.
